It is KEY to remember–who you choose to do your siding matters, even if you need to wait for a more reputable contractor to schedule your job.  Why? Because the success (or failure) of your siding job literally hinges upon who you choose. As an experienced contractor ourselves (15+years), we at Siding Colorado have a few pearls of advice to help you on your way. Additionally, we are, of course, always willing to do the job for you and have a long history of perfect customer service and siding success on top of that

4 Tips For Choosing A Siding Contractor

1) Ask friends, family, and co-workers for recommendations
A referral from someone who has first-hand knowledge of how the contractor communicates, how efficiently they work is the perfect way to vet any siding contractor notwithstanding. If someone you know had a bad experience, it is best to keep looking for a good one, investigate further.

2) Ask contractors for references
If you can’t find family or co-workers who can refer a siding contractor, then it’s time to makes a list. This list should be pulled from the internet primarily for time’s sake. See who is coming up on the first page(s), then look at their reviews on Yelp, the BBB or Facebook. Don’t forget, there are entire sites just dedicated to vetting home improvement professionals like Angie’s list. From there ask the contractors you narrow it down to for references.

3) Ask the right questions

Getting your siding replaced is expensive and you want it to last as long as possible. Well installed siding can last 25 years or more,  so don’t be afraid to ask tough questions of the contractors you’re considering for the job. Allow them to visit your home and inspect it (inspection should be free), then ask if they are licensed and follow up on checking out that license to make sure it is valid.  Definitely inquire about warranties as they vary greatly from contractor to contractor and even brand to brand. Ask them if they guarantee their work, but get it in writing that they do. Look over their portfolio and don’t be afraid to judge them on their appearance, attitude and communication abilities. It’s your home and money–so vet thoroughly.

4) Find Out Which Brands They Partner With

One of the best siding products on the market today comes from James Hardie. But there are other options out there that may work better for your home or budget.  LP Smartside is great and vinyl, although not as premium, is always a good option for homes under 250K. Often times siding installers have partnerships with siding manufacturers and are sure find out if they do.  This could guarantee the warranty on the siding and show they are a safe bet as a siding contractor too.

We hope this gives you a starting point in choosing your siding contractor. For more information on siding or to schedule a preliminary consultation with us for pricing and scope review, contact Siding Colorado today!
